new vessels

Luxury Barge Cruise is pleased to present 4 new vessels
to the Luxury Barge Cruise line-up.

Charlamagne. This new addition carries 32 passengers in 14 twins and 2 upper suites.  This is a wonderful vessel.   Springtime in Holland for the Tulip season and then moving into Germany for cruises on the Moselle and Neckar rivers, both equally charming with their steep banks, covered in vines and fairytale castles perched at their peaks.  The Neckar itinerary to Heidelburg is very impressive with all of the small towns and villages that are visited.

magna carta . The 8 passenger Magna Carta is one of the finest, most luxurious vessels cruising the British Isles. Magna Carta has the most sophisticated modern amenities, and the upper deck saloon and dining areas sport picture windows and stylish furnishings. Her experienced Captain knows the Thames well and your Master Chef will produce a range of mouth watering dishes, whilst you enjoy the sights of London and the home counties from your luxury floating hotel, navigating England's Royal River.

Le phenicien . Le Phenicien is a different barge... spacious, luminous and very comfortable. It can accommodate up to 18 passengers in 9 cabins. All common areas are on the main deck . You will enjoy the teak sundeck with its director chairs and its leather benches surrounding the pilot bridge. Through the large panoramic windows the sun of Provence will gently warm you as you nap or sip a drink in the vast lounge. The vessel is delightful with its modern Provencal decor with fine local art lining the walls.

St louis . The Saint Louis' salon, dining area, and bar are spacious and comfortable with a small library and music center. The large sun deck is equipped with loungers, table and chairs for relaxation and alfresco dining, with meals prepared specially for you by Barbara, a talented cook, providing excellent regional and international dishes from the finest of local ingredients.

The Pleasantest Trip

“There is nothing,” said Ratty in The Wind in the Willows, “half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.” True enough. But add to that assertion “on France’s Canal du Midi” and it gets even better. A haven of tranquillity, this ancient waterway meanders lazily through countryside that has changed little down the centuries. And therein lies the canal’s special charm, for although its raison d’être was to link the Atlantic with the Mediterranean, its more magical role is to connect past to present. Afloat on its placid waters voyagers are transported back to an earlier age when Roman traders came to the Languedoc to buy the prized local wines—and were the first to dream of digging a canal from the ocean to the sea—or medieval pilgrims passed by en route to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. The panorama is much the same now as it was then: the towering peaks of the Pyrénées to the south and the imposing Montagne Noire to the north. In between, as it has done now for over 300 years, the Canal du Midi glides past fairytale citadels and threads through ancient towns and villages weaving its potent spell....
